Automatic Retailing Case Study

The Challenge

The relationship with Automatic Retailing came about through our already well-established relationship with their parent company, The Kitwave Group. They have been supported by PLM for over 2 years, the relationship initially started with legacy repair and maintenance on their aged HHT estate. This is the second time that we have refreshed Honeywell equipment across the group.
The key challenge during this would be finding a device that could be deployed with the confidence of it being in use for a minimum of 7 years to help maximise Automatic Retailing’s ROI.
The Solution

We were tasked with finding and showcasing some enterprise android devices that could age with the estate that they were using. Alongside this, Automatic Retailing wanted to integrate an enterprise android device to streamline and speed up the processing of deliveries, dispatches and all other elements of stock management.

After many discussions, the Honeywell CK65 device was chosen based on a previous refresh within the group at Eden Farm, of which has already integrated Honeywell CK75 devices in a cold store environment which enabled full track and trace. However, as the environment didn’t require a freezer rated device, the CK65 ticked all of the boxes for this part of the Kitwave Group. This device has a lot of benefits, such as being light enough to be used all day yet durable enough to withstand the wear and tear of daily use. And with a 7,000 mAh extended smart battery, the CK65 is capable of up to 28 hours of continuous operation, so workers finding themselves with a dead battery in the middle of their shift will be a thing of the past.

Another benefit of the Honeywell CK65 is that it is manufactured with Honeywell’s Mobility Edge Platform, which enables extended lifecycle and advanced security for the users –so Automatic Retailing won’t need to worry about the longevity of these devices.
To ensure that this would be the right device for this company, we acquired a test device with the support of Honeywell, which was tested in a live environment successfully. This led to Automatic Retailing procuring a number of CK65’s which we helped to configure and deploy across the estate.
The products are now used in every aspect of stock control, including ‘goods in and good out’ movements, in conjunction with the Ivanti Velocity terminal emulation applications.
The Delivery

The outcome was a resounding success. All of the equipment was preconfigured to enable Automatic Retailing to have an ‘out of the box’ working solution which was integrated seamlessly with their systems and their service.

We also provided maintenance and support for the devices supplied, providing a fully managed service offering for the client–of which we will continue to do throughout the whole lifecycle of the equipment. We will also continue to manage the relationship with Honeywell. This will help Automatic Retailing with the administration and logistic of devices that require ongoing maintenance.
